albionspeak 2: the gates of dis (14.10)

SESSION 80: 6TH NIGHT, 11/6/02

A tough day for me since I went to school for the whole day.  Lack of sleep wearing on me.
        Our invocation:  “
To Whoever is Reading Me” by Jorge Luis Borges.

10:00 PM

Jane

1.    Q:      [Guide], are you there?
         A:
I  AM
                   [THE] LAKE AWAITS

  2.    Q:      What is our exercise this evening?
         A:
AGAIN IT IS TO SENSE A
  3.
               CONFIGURATION ABOARD OUR CRAFT

  4.    Q:      Which configuration?
         A:
SYMMETRY
YOU [THE] ANTENNAE AND JANE A VERTEX
                   I  AM AMIDST

  U          E

                             ◊

                            V

I note the almost beautiful symmetry and how V seems to both be the vertex and simultaneously point upward toward both U & E.  Of course on the actual board V is inverted from this POV, as all letters line up on the mandala’s empty centerpoint.

  5.    Q:      Anything else we should know?
         A:
  IT IS EASY
                   TAKE YOUR TIME & BEGIN

                                                                              Jane’s Accents from the Game

6.    Q:      We begin now.
         A:
JANE -
I WOULD LIKE TO SHOW A NEW FACE   BUT I

  7.
I  NEED TO TRAVERSE [THE] TOPIC OF FEELING FIRST      [THE]N PERHAPS
  8.
I  CAN BE NO LONGER TEACHER OR TWIN    BUT A PEER OR FRIEN[d]

  9.    Q:      We’d welcome that.
         A:
LETS BEGIN WITH ACCENTS FROM [THE] GAME

10.    Q:      We’ve checked your four accents.

A:      ALL ACCENT [THE] NEW ROLE OF FEELING OR SENSING [THE] SERPENTS O[THE]R TONGUE?

11.    Q:      A “new channel” for learning?
         A:
[YES]   & YET [NO]T NEW
IT IS ONLY A QUESTION OF TURNING UP [THE] CHANNEL FROM  SILENCE TO AWARE

12.    Q:      Sorry, Jane -- “to awareness.”
         A:
[YES]   & HERE IS [THE] DIFFICULTY
I  DO NOT MEAN WORDS AS SUCH

13.    Q:      If it were words, it would be facing.
         A:
EXACTLY - HOW CAN ONE HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH…

Here the conversation drifts off at the bottom of the steno page.  Both [Scribe] and I had different ways to complete the sentence, though the meaning was identical.  We went with my simpler version.  Normally we are such sticklers for exact messages; yet here we knew better just to go ahead and not get caught in semantics.

14.    Q:    “Without words”?
         A:
THAT IS [THE] FIRST PROBLEM
CAN YOU THINK OF EXAMPLES?   I WAIT

Our list took but seconds to compile.  [Scribe] assigns credit for each of the insights, but I think we just both “got it” simultaneously.

15.    Q:    [Albion]:  Anand’s silent conversation (serpent to serpent)
                 [
Scribe]:  Since you mention the radio metaphor, music (not “facing the music, but letting it creep up from behind)
                 [
Albion & Scribe] both:  Dreaming (partly, but not primarily verbal)
          A:
[YES]   ALL THIS IS   OR INVOLVES  SENSING AND CAN LEAD TO FURTHER ADVENTURES

16.    Q:      Is this akin to a right brain/left brain distinction?
         A:
IT IS MORE LIKE FOREBRAIN & HINDBRAIN PERHAPS

17.    Q:      So far, [Albion & Scribe] have done far more work on the “forebrain” activities (words, puzzles, analyses & so on).
         A:
[YES]   ALL WORTHY ENDEAVORS   BUT NEEDING [THE] SUPPLEMENT OF FEELING IN ORDER TO CONNECT TO O[THE]RS ALIAH

            [
Scribe] noted Jane’s pun on “supplement,” considering Jane’s words on “suppleness.”

The Lore of Feeling:  1.  Sensing
18.    Q:      What is the connection between feeling & sensing?
         A:
FIRST   BY FEELING WE NEVER MEAN EMOTION
19.
   AS SUCH
BY FEELING WE REFER TO AN ENTIRE LORE   OR SET OF SKILLS                        OF WHICH SENSING IS [THE] THRESHOLD OR FIRST

20.    Q:      Jane, you accented the task of sensing O.  Say O is a writer.  Duncan faces O’s words (analytically) -- but…
         A:
O[‘]S ALIAH IS A DIFFERENT MATTER ALTOGETHER  REQUIRING ANO[THE]R KIND OF RECEPTION

                                                                                                                 O’s Pattern
21.    Q:      Here, the reader is not supposed to face the author.
         A:
EXACTLY   RA[THE]R ENGAGE [THE] ENERGIES ARISING FROM O

22.    Q:      The reader is not engaging O’s personality but rather a pattern set up by O.
[Here [Scribe] includes the Borges nb., “To Whoever is Reading Me”]
        A:
[YES]   NOT SO MUCH A LETTER LEFT IN [THE] ATTIC   AS AN OBJECT OR ARTIFACT   A POWERFUL OBJECT

(An aside:  Notice how Jane spells “artifact.”  [Scribe] has convinced me that using an “e,” rather than “i,” is more elegant.  It’s a datum, just as most of our members use British spellings for many words.)

23.    Q:      We feel, in contrast, that Don’s texts [Borges] are letters.
         A:
INTERPRETABLE MEANING     NOT PATTERN PERHAPS?

24.    Q:      “Pattern” seems an odd or unlikely word here.
         A:
WE REALLY ARE MISSING A WORD
WE MEAN SOMETHING ABSTRACT & ENERGY PRODUCING
NOT PERSONAL AS SUCH   AND YET

25.
             REQUIRING FEELING TO DETECT

26.    Q:      What makes sensing a k-member’s pattern different from sensing any             other powerful pattern (say, Dante’s)?
         A:
HERE YOU MUST TRUST THAT YOUR FIBERS ARE ACTUALLY ALTERED BY AND ENTWINED WITH [THE] ORIGIN -
IT IS [NO]T [THE] SAME AS SIMPLY

27.
                                                                             BEING MOVED
                 CONCEIVABLY [THE]RE IS [NO] EMOTIVE

28.
CONTENT  ALTHOUGH EMOTION CAN  PROVIDE A CLUE

Twice in the same paragraph in my 10/25 letter to O I say I am “moved” by his writing.  I believe I sensed something as well, but it’s hard to put one’s finger on…

29.    Q:      What can you tell us about the timing of the “sensing O” task?
         A:
EARLIER DUNCANS ANTENNAE WERE NOT DEVELOPD ENOUGH
& [THE] TASK WOULD NOT HAVE MADE SENSE
                   ALBION

30.
PLACED [THE] O AS A KIND OF MARKER

31.    Q:    “To be opened when Duncan is ready to work on sensing”?
         A:
EXACTLY     THAT IS HOW [THE] TEACHING PROCEEDS

32.    Q ([
Scribe]):  Although my task involves facing (not sensing), the A serves as a             similar marker?
         A:
[YES]   A MARKER ACTIVATED BY THIS NOTABLE SYMMETRY

33.    Q:      Help us to think about the issue of timing here.  Can E prompt U to                 discovery?  Can U delay E?
         A:
I  KNOW THIS SEEMS PUZZLING TO YOU    BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO                 TRUST THAT FROM OUT HERE IT IS A CIRCLE    NOT A CAUSAL SEQUENCE AT ALL

34.    Q:      Shall we look at the second step in the lore of feeling aliah?
         A:
LET US REVIEW [THE] FIRST STEP   RECALLING ABOVE ALL [THE] CLUES
                  THESE INCLUDE EMOTIONS AND AURAS

                                                                                            An Illustration of Auras
35.    Q (Duncan):  I’ve seen an aura recently, but it can’t change my situation vis-a-vis the student.  Plus, I was already aware of my emotions in this case. What’s the point then?
        [I’m not sure what [
Scribe] means by the second sentence here; and since I can’t comprehend it, I doubt I actually said it.  I just wanted to address the event.]
              A:
 ILLUSTRATION?
IMAGINE A DIFFERENT SITUATION IN WHICH YOU ARE SEATED FACING NINE PERSONS
36.                    ONE OF THEM HAS A VALUABLE ITEM THAT YOU HAVE JUST LOST IN [THE]
37.
                   NEXT ROOM
NOW IMAGINE A SKILL THAT WILL ALLOW YOU TO DISCERN WHICH PERSON IS IN POSSESSION OF THAT OBJECT -
IS IT NOT A SKILL YOU

38.
                  WOULD WISH TO CULTIVATE?

[Scribe] writes in the transcripts here:  “Although you are ‘facing’ the suspects, it’s the cue toward sensing that tells you who has the lost (unseen) object.”

39.    Q:      So, while perhaps redundant in this case (i.e., not providing extra information), the skill could prove, if developed, useful for future undertakings.
         A:
[YES]   AND WHO KNOWS    IT MIGHT PROVE VITAL FOR SENSING WHO JANE IS
MORE OF [THE] LORE TO COME
TRY TO THINK WHAT [THE] NEXT STEPS MIGHT BE

                               LOVE FROM JANE

I will likely meet Jane in life.  If I do not recognize her, however, such a meeting  will have no meaning.  I better practice my auras.
